Sandstone head of King Amenhotep III. Amenhotep III, also known as Amenhotep the Magnificent, was the ninth pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty. He ruled Egypt with his Great Royal wife Tiye for 38 years until his death and was succeeded by Amenhotep IV, later known as Akhenaten.
