Egyptian head of a priest made of schist

Beautiful finely hand-carved Egyptian black schist head of a priest. Priests played an important role in ancient Egypt. They were called "servants of the god". Only the priest was allowed to enter the sacred area of the temple and approach the statue representing the god or goddess.
